About me

Growing up my main sport was basketball. I played professionally for 12 seasons and in 1991 I went to college and studied to be a sports teacher. During that time, I also qualified as a fitness instructor and personal trainer.

In 1995 I found work as a gym instructor at Stroud Leisure Centre where I also coached children's and adult's basketball. Stroud gym was large and very popular with a client base of over 1000 people. I went through the ranks and after two years became the gym manager, where I remained for the next five years.

In 2002 my family and I went over to France where we established a self-catering holiday business specialising in personal training breaks.

We returned to England in August of 2009 and I have been based at the British Racing School (BRS) since 2012. During my time with the BRS I have helped to create the new fitness test and tested hundreds of riders towards their licenses as well as training numerous jockeys to achieve their fitness goals. Since returning to England, I also acquired my UK Personal Training certification with CIMPSA (formerly REP) - membership # R0183709.

In addition to monitoring the fitness assessments for the license courses, I also carry out fitness sessions with the applicants. These sessions combine high intensity interval training and resistance work. Furthermore, I conduct 1 to 1 sessions with the trainees which helps to identify their strengths and weaknesses and introduces different and new fitness tools and techniques to help improve their levels of fitness.
